Certificate IV in Disability

Overview

The Certificate IV in Disability qualification prepares you for work in residential group homes, training resource centres, day respite centres and open employment services, other community settings and people’s homes. There are a number of roles you could undertake including:

  • Disability officer – day support,
  • Disability support officer / worker
  • Employment coordinator (disability)
  • Job coordinator
  • Lifestyle support officer
  • Local area coordinator

Your knowledge and skills gained through this qualification and/or previous experience will equip you to provide training and support to people with disabilities to enhance their ability to achieve greater levels of independence, self reliance and community participation. You will report to service managers and may liaise with health professionals and other service Agencies.

Units

The  Certificate IV in Disability  is made up of fifteen units of competency.  Ten of these units are core units and five are elective units.

A number of units within this qualification are common to other Certificate IV qualifications in Mental Health and Community Services Work, therefore individual training plans can be developed to suit your background and learning needs.
