Higher Level Skills
The Higher Level Skills program is a key initiative under the Queensland Government’s five-year training reform action plan, Great skills. Real opportunities.
The program provides a government subsidy to support eligible individuals to access one subsidised training place in selected certificate IV level and above qualifications, or priority skill sets.
The aim is to assist individuals to gain the higher level skills required to secure employment or career advancement in priority industries or to transition to university. Employers may also be able to access training to address workforce development needs.
This program is open to any Queensland resident aged 15 years or over, who is no longer at school and is an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident, and does not have and is not enrolled in a certificate IV or higher-level qualification.
You may only access this funding program once and accessing this program may effect your eligibility to access other government funding for training in the future.
Do I have to pay any fees:
Given the increased benefits that participants can gain from higher-level training, participants are required by the Queensland Government to contribute to the cost of their training through a student co-contribution fee, payable to Spectrum Training. The amount of fees varies depending upon the course
you undertake however Spectrum Training charges a flat rate of $1.00 per Unit of Competency, this mean that on average you will be required to pay approximately $15.00 as a contribution to your training.
The fee may be paid on your behalf by an employer or a third party but cannot be paid by the training provider.
