Overview
Specialise in mental health with this advanced-level qualification. This course will give you the specialised skills and knowledge needed to work with people with complex needs in both community services and healthcare settings.
This course will equip you to work with a diverse range of clients, run early intervention and health promotion programs, and research and apply evidence to your practice. You will also develop the skills required to advocate on behalf of people with complex coexisting mental health, drug, and alcohol issues.
This qualification reflects the role of workers who provide services to clients in relation to mental health issues. They can provide counselling, referral, advocacy and education/health promotion services. These workers are required to have high level specialist knowledge, skills and competencies especially in regard to laws affecting people with mental health issues, the range of services available to them and health issues related to mental health.
Units
The Diploma of Mental Health is made up of twenty (20) units of competency. Fifteen (15) of these units are core units and five (5) are elective units.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for Spectrum Training’s Certificate IV in Mental Health.
